"Manager Clint Hurdle hinted on Sunday that Iannetta could be in for expanded playing time, the Denver Post reports. Spin: Iannetta has started 10 games and Yorvit Torrealba 21. However, Iannetta is hitting .308 to Torrealba's .238. "Iannetta has done a good job with the at-bats he's had. He's been very productive," said Hurdle. Iannetta isn't likely to take over as the clear starter anytime soon, but a 50-50 time share is possible. [Breaking News] RotoWire | Mon, May 5 (via ESPN)"
Iannetta started behind the dish last night and he certainly made the most of it with a double, home run, and three RBIs. He's is absolutely hammering the ball right now and I don't see how Hurdle can take his bat out of the lineup. Hopefully he's beginning to take over the #1 catching job; most Rockies fans have been clammering for it for a while now.
I had a blind auction bid in this past weekend, for Clement, @ $12 lost out on that bid, to another owner, who beat me by $1 ($13 for Clement) so I settled for my next claim, of Iannetta $1, what a steal this has turned out, to be so far.....hopefully he continues and takes Torreablla spot for good.
We start 2 catchers weekly, and I lost Posada to the DL.....Iannetta has done a wonderful job so far.
Dropped Towles for him. Couldn't take anymore of Towles either not playing or going 0-4. I figure even when Ianetta doesn't play, a 0-0 is still better than a 0-4.

I drafted Ianetta in a deep 2 catcher league for that exact reason.
Basically, if they let Iannetta play, I think he will bounce back just fine. That said, I did overrate him to some extent last year, and I think the Grade B+ was a notch too high. I should have had him at Grade B. I think I overreacted to the gaudy numbers at Tulsa. In retrospect, I think my earlier assessment of Iannetta back in 2006 was the right one: he's a .250-.260 hitter (neutral park) in the majors, with enough walks for a nice OBP, some power, and solid glovework. Not a star, but a solid guy.
