Yet, he won't be the AL 2nd base starter even though he's clearly the best offensive second basemen in the AL and leading all 2nd basemen in range factor for the third straight year.

Exactly, but if the All-Star game is suppose to "count" than why do the fans vote for the starters? You'd think the mlb would want the best team out there if they really wanted to push the idea if it counted.

No, MLB wants the guys that the fans will tune in to see. As stupid as it is, there is a reason guys like Ripken, Gwynn, Griffey, Jeter, Winfield, Boggs and a ton of others kept making ASGs well after they should have, and its because the fans around the country know the names and want to see them.

While I think something should be done about certain teams stuffing the box and have disproportiate reps, there really isnt a sensible option.

Then why should it count? Fans have no creditability, just look who's the starter AL All-Star catcher.

Kinsler is the greatest baseball player EEEVVAARRR!

Well, no. But I traded for him at the end of April when he had 1 HR and it's been, honestly, the best fantasy trade I ever made (and I gave up legit players too: Javier Vazquez + Ervin Santana for Kinsler and Sherrill).

He's legit 20-40 with 25-50 upside, and considering he hits for average and fills up both counting stats I think he will end up being a top-10 player this season and a 2nd round pick next year over Phillips, probably 2nd 2B behind Utley.
