I've been taking shots with tons of young pitchers but am not even tempted to pick up up Hochevar. Nothing he has done in the minors has really impressed me, he just doesn't project to be an average fantasy pitcher this. In a really deep league, like AL-only or more than 15 teams, maybe he is worth keeping your eye on, but I don't think he is likely at all to be a contributor 12 team mixed leagues.

In 3 starts with Omaha...

1-1 record

2.60 ERA with batters batting .180 off of him.

17.1 IP 11 hits allowed 12/6 K/BB

He got worse with each start he had...

Hochevar 2008

Thanks Magnus. As a Yahoo sycophant I looked at his log from the bottom up :-[

Also, look at this kid's stats from last season...26 starts btw AA and AAA and he only won 4 games?

Based on minors stats...he looks to walk alot of batters, ERA isn't great, and K/9 is slightly above par. I don't know what all the fuss is. I'll pass.

I don't know is Spring stats or how real his chance of keeping this spot are, but could be a great pickup in a keeper league. He was drafted behind Miller in 06, but is considered not quite as good.

Dude..UR drunk...he was the #1 overall pick on 06. I really think any #1 pick should be on a fantasy team regardless of when he was drafted. There is a reason he was taken #1 overall.

Someone said he is 0-4 or something...who cares how many wins he has. He has a low ERA and is coming off a 5 K shutout.

Andrew Miller is considered nearly as talented, and look how he has done. These guys will be awesome eventually and Luke's ERA might be okay right away, but he is not the type to dominant right now and until he harnesses his talent, his WHIP will kill your team.

Well i had a beer in my hand but I wasn't drunk. What I meant was he was considered a lesser talent than Miller, but Miller was considered less signable so he dropped a few spots.

Some times there is just no rhyme or reason to these guys...look at what Jaerd Weaver did in 06...fresh off the 04 draft class. He really was horrible in the minors, but came up to the majors and was great...this is why I hate to pass up a 1st overall.
