Being Asked to Give Up Commish Job?

Postby sox 06 » Wed Apr 16, 2008 8:12 pm

A manager emailed me (I'm the commish) and asked me to give him the commish job for a week and then he would give it back to me. I emailed him back and asked why he wanted me to do this. He said that he offered another team in our league a trade and the guy rejected it and wrote back "F**K OFF." He said that he doesn't mind trash talking, but he won't tolerate that kind of trash talking. He says that if I don't give him the commish job, then he at least wants me to lock the "F**K OFF" guy's team for a while. What should I do?

Ignore him. Assuming you know everyone in the league then address the other guy to find his reason (No one just cusses someone out for no reason). My guess, the first guy was being annoying and that provoked the reply. If you let a guy punish someone else whenever they want your league will die quickly

Tell the guy to grow some nads. Tell the other guy to cool it on the verbage, or at least stay away from the other owner for a while.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

That's ridiculous. Tell him to suck it up and tell the other guy to be more civil in the future.

Then, of course, add this to your league constitution: "If you curse at someone, your team will be locked for 3 weeks." LOL.

Give him the commish? Lol.

That's hilarious. Worst. Idea. Ever.

This doesn't even need to be made public. Just a simple email to the offending owner about language, CC'd with the offended owner, should have it ironed out in an hour.

Locking this guy's team for a private comment is completely laughable. Giving the offended owner power to impose his own punishment is an even worse idea.

Why would YOU cede the commish spot because of one potty-mouth owner? :-B

Alright, thanks for the help. I figured I should just ignore him. I should just post a message on our message board saying something like "Please don't use swear words in your smack talk and if you don't like a trade that is offered to you, just simply press the reject button." Sound good?

No, just email the guy who did it and tell him to try to be more civil. If you email the whole league, Mr. Sensitive will get even more abuse and ask you to freeze everyone's roster.

Agree. First deal with problems at the person-to-person level. Then if they reoccur, make it a league issue.
