In my league we draft 6 starters and there are 12 teams. So this means that there will be 72 pitchers taken that are starters. One of the strategies I was kicking around was to draft 6 $1 pitchers at the end of the draft. This may sound stupid but I have won many leagues with this approach. However, I need to find 6 diamond inthe roughs that will be around for me when I pick in the end. Can you guys help me by throwing some players that will be around for a $1 that i can draft. No keep in mind that I load up on closers which I can pick 4
Some of the guys I think I can get a for $1 are:
Matt Riley
Edwin Jackson
Jose Acevado(cincy)
Kim, Byung-Hyun
Duchscherer, Justin
Waechter, Doug
Franklin, Ryan
Correja, Kevin
Stanford, Jason
Redding, Tim
Seo, Jae Weong
They all had a sub 4.00era last year and are projected as a 4th or 5th starter on their team. Please let me know if I forgot any here and if you think these guys are going to be flops
Edwin Jackson
Kim, Byung-Hyun
Duchscherer, Justin
Franklin, Ryan
I like these guys but dont reallylike the others. I would look at Affeldt, Claussen, Escobar, Lackey, Jerome Williams, Lilly. Some of these might not go for $1 but i would not think they would go much higher than that.
There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.
Yes it is a keeper league however we start ALL pitchers and our league doesnt carry a bench for minors. So if you want to keep someone in the minors he hurts your team. I am only looking for guys that will produce well for $1-3 in 2004
I think pitching coach Rick Peterson is gonna have a big impact on him. Also he had a pretty good year last season and at his age he can only be expected to get better.
