Bowker

Postby petert » Wed Apr 16, 2008 2:57 pm

i found this at another site, anybody know anything else about him.....

Lefty outfielder John Bowker saw Major League action for the first time in his career Saturday for the San Francisco Giants, and promptly went 2-3 with a home run. Then for an encore he wet 2-3 with another home run on Sunday. Not bad for the 24-year-old. His consecutive game home run streak ended at two when he went 2-4 with only a triple on Tuesday.

Bowker has come out of the gates red hot. Last season in 139 games at Double-A Connecticut, he batted .307 with 22 home runs and 37 doubles. This kid can hit, and his power keeps developing every year. With Randy Winn and Fred Lewis around, Bowker might not be around to stay, not just yet. But if his performances stay relatively close to this level, the Giants will have to find a spot for him.

"in 139 games at Double-A Connecticut, he batted .307 with 22 home runs and 37 doubles"

I read another article that said his 22 hr's at his ballpark in Connecticut was impressive because it is a very unfriendly home run hitting park.

You guys are getting too excited too quickly... I picked him up too, but I certainly wouldn't have dropped Reynolds for him.

ok ok.......... i know its a long shot when i say "Braun" but hey you never know, he could be a diamond in the rough or we might never hear of his name again. Worth a buck in my opinion at most and maybe a spot on the bench for a week or two to see if he pans out at all and wins a starting position on the crappy no offense giants. But what do i know?

Hey man, I just picked him up in three leagues, so I'm hoping for big things myself. I just wouldn't have dropped Reynolds for him is all. ;-D
