Am I missing something, or should Papelbon be in? It's not like he pitched in consecutive games...

Uh, why is Papelbon pitching in a non-save situation today?

I don't get this... yesterday, in a save situation, Papelbon can't go because "the team is trying not to work him too hard early in the year (according to cafe users)", and now - all the sudden - he can toss 24 pitches in a non-save outing for fun?

This is B.S. :-C

"Save situation" has a different definition when you're the Red Sox playing the Yankees.

Yeah exactly. Papelbon wasa good to go yesterday but wasn't needed. He was always going to pitch the 9th tonight in a close game and Francona decided quite rightly that he was worth using to protect a 4 run lead. The bullpen is now reasonably fresh going into the weekend.
