Soriano just hurt what looked to be his ankle doing that dumb hop he always does when catching a flyball... Out of the game now... :~( %-6 :-P :-t

Didn't look to be too serious... let's hope at least

I cannot say a days rest will hurt his game......

Why even bother doing that stupid hop. Just catch the ball...it is not that hard. What an idiot.

Obviously we really know nothing about his calf injury yet but didn't Victorino miss about 3 weeks with a calf strain last year? Maybe it's just the pessimistic side of me coming out since I own Soriano in both of my leagues and am also a huge Cubs' fan, but I fear a trip to the DL here.

Also, he was still only like 90% "mentally" about his leg injury from last year so hopefully he isn't reluctant to steal for the majority of the season. Part of the appeal of drafting him so high in FBB is because you expect 20+ SB. He was off to a decent start in that area but I think this probably going to be a setback.

Not trying to be too negative here, guys, because it could just as easily be a day or two type of thing. Cubs' fans can surely understand my initial pessimism though.

Maybe it's time for the Cubbies to pull those mediocre second basemen they've been using and move Soriano back to 2B so he doesn't have to run as much when he's playing the field. They should do whatever it takes to keep him healthy and keep his bat in the lineup.

Not looking good
From Rotoworld:
Apr. 15 - 11:51 pm et
Cubs manager Lou Pineilla said the team expects Alfonso Soriano will be out "a while" with his calf injury.

Soriano underwent an MRI, and the results will be available tomorrow. It's tough to know exactly what Pineilla means by "a while," but it seems like a trip to the disabled list is possible, with Matt Murton likely to be called up to start in left field.

According to the Disabled List Informer, http://disabledlist.blogspot.com/2008/0 ... -calf.html

He could be out up to 3-4 weeks, possibly longer. Though this is assuming the injury is serious, and this guy says it could be, seeing that Soriano had to be helped off the field.
