Rich Hill's recent struggles

Postby spark0901 » Tue Apr 15, 2008 12:37 pm

I managed to grab him off FA with my #3 waiver because someone dropped him. If he can pitches anything like last year, I'll have hit the jackpot. Does anyone think he can return to last year's form? I guess this guy was pretty erratic throughout spring and his first two starts have been far from stellar. Has anyone seen him pitch? Has he looked that bad or his Lou Pinella being unusually hard on him for some reason?

According to Rotoworld, he has been moved down to the fifth starter and his turn in the rotation will be skipped every once in a while. He better turn it around quickly.

I just don't understand why Lou seems to be crusading against Hill. At least on the stat sheet Hill's first start looks pretty good. 6 IP, 2 runs, only 8 baserunners (hits + walks and 1 HBP). I believe his last ST start was pretty good as well. So after being told by his manager he'd suck vs the pirates he did. He's had one good start and one bad start and now he's being treated like his last name is Borowski. It just seems like the Cubs are trying to run him out of town as fast as they can.

I don't understand either. He had one bad start and the manager loses all confidence in him. If the Cubs want to win the NL Central they are going to need Hill in the rotation.

I think his struggles go beyond the two regular season starts. He had a terrible ST and is continuing that trend.

i've watched him pitch this year and he has been wild and hitters look comfortable facing him but in the spring Lou was talking about him being a potential 20 game winner this year. I am going to hold onto him for at least two more starts, he'll turn it around. Plus he's in the NL, he'll get his numbers.

Would any of you choose to have Rich Hill on your team over A.J. Burnett or Jeff Francis?
