Rafael Soriano

Any word on how his injury is improving. What are the chances that he remains healthy after he returns. I don't own him, I am just looking to maybe pick up his replacement. I currently have Moylin but I have heard that there is a chance Mike Gonzalez may take over when he returns if Soriano has a more serious injury. Anyone else thinks this is a possibility?

It's way to early to be hanging your hopes on Gonzalez. Fresh off Tommy John, he's not going to emerge from rehab and be installed as closer without the Braves getting a substantial look at what he's got. And that would require Soriano to be out for a very extended period or to utterly fail upon his return.

Unfortunately, the club is being somewhat reticent regarding Soriano's recovery/return prognosis. For now, Moylan and/or Acosta look to get the chances initially, with Cox likely to go with the hot hand. Acosta's got the minor league closing background; Moylan has the stronger MLB resume, so it's something of a guessing game until one of them is established. Good luck.

Where did you hear Gonzo might be in the mix? There's a better chance he doesn't even pitch this season...
