From rotowire:
Apr 13 Sheffield's surgically repaired shoulder, as well as cold weather in Detroit, could be contributing to his slow start, in which he has hit .167 since the start of the season, the Tigers' Official Site reports.
Recommendation: Sheffield's shoulder was swollen Sunday morning, and still sore after he tore some scar tissue while working out before Saturday's game. He should have greater range of motion as the soreness dies down, but he still isn't likely to be 100 percent for some time.
This is worrying me.

The Tigers will start to hit. I don't know about their pitching, but the offense will come around. And with it, so will Sheffield. The shoulder shouldn't be an issue as the weather warms up, but I would bench him until he feels better.

Although I've rode Sheff's bat many a years, his bat appears to be slowing down a bit. He is a little too risky for me this year, but I would keep an eye on it, may end up being a sell high based on name recognition.

Scar tissue tearing lose isn't really something to worry about.
The finger and any additonal nicks would start to worry me. Sheff's a gamer, so you know he'll give it a try.

His shoulder looked just fine last night smoking one down the 3rd base line for a double. Bat speed is still there, he's Chuck Norris tough, and he starts slow. Don't worry just yet...

In fact, I think getting rid of the scar tissues will help his range of motion.
