2 weeks in...How do my teams look?

Postby PokerMike4283 » Sun Apr 13, 2008 9:27 pm

All of my teams are in Yahoo H2H, 12 team leagues. When you look at these 4 teams, can you answer the following?

Who should I think about dropping/trading?
Who should I think about trading for?
What are the strengths of each?
What are the weaknesses of each?
Overall, are any of my teams championship caliber and do you feel they, if any, have a real chance at winning a championship?

Thanks!

Champion BoSox:

Towles should be a backup at this point. As should lopez, crosby. Pitching is not going to be that great either. A lot of #4 pithcers. Maybe get another closer or two (that goes for all the leagues... the avg. team in your league has 2.5 closers. Most teams will beat you)

Poker Club:
Some good offense but again not sure I would trust Drew, Towles, Inge, or even Nady as the season progresses. Granderson weill help a lot when he returns. Good starter depth but i wouldn't rely on a lot of these guys and you'll probably lose ERA and WHIP a lot.

Players Club:
Offense looks potent and fast. Ankiel>Patterson>Kapler though. You might want to package away Beltre for another 3B. He has that ligament damage in his hand which will hamper him all season. Might want to trade now while he has good numbers; he might be sat more often to rest it too. Pitching should be good enough to carry a few categories, but no elite pitchers. This team is the best IMO

Bashers:
Don't really like this team too much.

Champion BoSox, offensively will struggle. Not enough power after Pujols & Beltran and while speed is better, might not be enough with Ichiro as main SB threat. Starting pitching is okay with Verlander & Matsuzaka as staples and streamers to plug in & out. Closers are good but also look for vulture saves throughout season. I like that the team has some hot players to keep team competitive.

Cavendish Poker Club, better suited for H2H play, with lots of power & speed offense to give more roster space towards streaming pitchers. However, because of the better offense, your pitching isn't that good and you are almost forced to find the hot hand pitcher. Closers are good enough but always look to add.

The Players Club, other than Ryan Howard, no guaranteed power. Nice Roberts/Ichiro combo for speed & average. Like Cavendish Poker Club team, pitching isn't that good and closers are good enough.

Bashers, good core with David Ortiz (once he gets out of slump), Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez & Bobby Abreu for power / speed, but I would look to trade one of your 1B to help another position like 3B or OF. Haren is good to have to hold your pitching together. You pretty much have no closers. You should either try to trade for some low-tiered closers, vulture saves, or avoid saves entirely and get good relievers.
