Minimal. We're talking about a veteran here. Guys like this you hold onto because you're not going to get much for him because no one believes it unless he is lights out for about 1/2 a season. If it was a pre-season sleeper or a young stud then it would be a different story.
So far this season, Cliff Lee is 3-0 with a 0.40 ERA and a 0.44 WHIP. And it's not like he's just getting lucky... 20 K, 2 BB and 0 HR allowed. Sabermetricians have to be loving this as well.
I know it's only three starts... but through three starts, Cliff Lee has been THE BEST pitcher in baseball. This is getting hard to ignore.
His BABIP is at a measley .154!! He is getting lucky, but as I said before, he has a nice looking schedule the next few weeks, so he could keep this up for a while longer. But I'd try to trade him soon. Get what you can for him, because he most likely won't have as much value as he does right now. No way he keeps this up much longer.
The only way you can have a 0.40 ERA is if you have such a low BABIP. Obviously he's getting lucky to some degree, but you still have to pitch well. He has pretty much no trade value so he's a solid hold player at this point.
Agreed.
Yeah, his BABIP will go up but he really has been awesome in terms of stuff he can control (K, BB, HR). Even his DIPS stats would look really good right now.
He wasn't available in any of my Yahoo leagues. Found him in two of my ESPN leagues and spot started him. It's kind of hard to throw this spot starter back into the waiver pool now.
Ichiro? No...
Dunn? No...
Ichiro Dunn! 106 runs, 23 home runs, 87 rbis, 23 stolen bases, 0.313 season average
Adam Suzuki! 106 runs, 23 home runs, 87 rbis, 23 stolen bases, 0.313 season average
Double the fun!

Exactly. No one in their right mind would actually trade for him. You basically be glad you have him and ride him out. Thats how these things work. Cueto on the other hand will have a high trade value all year.
