What is the latest word on Chris Perez? His stuff in the minors last year was sick and his spring was pretty nasty as well....yet he still didn't even make the bullpen out of Spring Training. What are your thoughts on him, and when (if ever) do you think he will be called up this year? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Perez could of easily made the roster out of spring training. He'll likely see time in the majors this year and is the closer of the future for the Cards. Expect him to get the call mid-season or even sooner if any injury occurs to the Cards relief staff.

Thanks for the update...I picked up him and David Price in our reserve draft...I just wanted to know if he would come up, because I watched him in the spring and he was electric.

This is likely Izzy's last year in St. Louis. Perez will probably come up in the 2nd half of the season to be the set up guy then take over as the closer next year if all goes well.

I see Perez as being called up soon, with the Cards utilizing him as a setup man. This will groom him to be the closer for the Cards starting next season. He definitely is a great add.
