Apr 11 Gordon Wittenmyer, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella said he is going to talk with pitching coach Larry Rothschild about the possibility of taking SP Rich Hill out of the rotation to let him work on his issues. "I'm going to sit down and talk to our pitching coach about that. I want what's best for Hill. We've got to get him straightened out. That's the important thing," Piniella said. If the team does decide to take him out of the rotation, he may by put into the bullpen.
Ok so Sweet Lou first demoralizes a young pitcher, Hill, by telling him he's a bad lefthanded pitcher and the Pirates kill bad leftanded pitches so Lou's not going to let Hill start against them. Then not too long before game time Lou tells the now demorlized Hill he has to go face the Pirates that he was told would kill him and Lou expects good results anyway. Then after that ONE predictably bad game, given how the situation was so poorly handled, he's going to be demoralized further by getting sent to the bullpen, or possibly even demoted? Where's Dusty Baker in Chicago when you need him? Sweet Lou should be put out to pasture.
