I know he's started off slowly, but this article is encouraging for Bay owners. Sounds like he has the green light to steal again and his knee is feeling good enough to do so.
I think Bay not running much last year had as much to do with Jim Tracy being reluctant to run his 3-4-5 hitters as well as the bothersome knee. As long as the knee holds up, Bay could snag 15-20 bases, but I think more importantly, that the knee holds up so he could catapult himself to the 30 HR plateau again.
Bay, who belted his first home run of the season Wednesday night, has been wrapping his right knee after games as a precautionary measure, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Spin: "Been wrapping it for a while now," Bay said of his surgically-repaired knee. "Strictly precautionary." Despite a slow start -- one RBI in seven games -- Bay says he feels fine and has even been given the green light to steal. The left fielder has just one stolen base but has broken for second on three other occasions, with the batter fouling off the pitch. "It was that push-off that I couldn't do the past couple years," he said. "I knew I couldn't get the first two or three steps I needed. Now, I feel like I've got that back."
