I have students who are literally addicted to MySpace and sit on it for 5-6 hours a day. I had a student tell me last week he was so tired in my class b/c he is up til 12 - 1 AM on it every night, sometimes from 3 - 4 in the afternoon, and could not fathom not doing that every single night. It's pathetic, yet scary.
I teach at a middle school and have students that tell me the same kinds of things all the time. I'm only 30 and the difference in the technology use/addiction from when I was their age is DRASTIC! It really makes me wonder what those same stats will be like in another 10 years.
A former officemate of mine is a Myspace evangelist. She's 34 and is so bloody surprised that a 25 year-old like myself isn't addicted to Myspace, let alone even have an account. She says it's a great place for me to hook up with a girl.

When i was in middle school we just talked on the phone or in person for hours.

That's nuts. I'm only 20 and don't know anyone who is that obsessed with it (or at least they don't tell anyone that they are.) I have a MySpace, but it's mainly to promote myself as a musician. I'm lucky if I check it once a week, nevermind once a minute.

I will admit that Myspace is a good tool for getting your work or your business more exposure than it otherwise would.

I especially like their expanded sexual predator interface... wait, what?
