Alex Rodriguez-3B-Yankees Jul. 22 - 3:27 pm et

The Daily Star, a British tabloid, is reporting that there is a sex tape featuring Alex Rodriguez and Madonna.

It's hard to believe this is true: the cameraman is claiming that he obtained the tape through the use of a hidden camera in a friend's apartment, and he is apparently extorting asking Madonna for "a fortune" for the rights to the video. This would put him in a lot of trouble with the law and likely end up in jail time, and while it's hard to believe anyone is that foolish, we are talking about a guy who thinks there's demand for an A-Rod/Madonna sex tape.

That's got some good stuff in it :-D

Kaz Matsui-2B- Astros Jul. 23 - 6:17 pm et

Kaz Matsui went 1-for-3 with a solo homer as the Astros lost to the Pirates on Wednesday.

Matsui managed to walk three times, though, and ended up scoring three times. He's hitting .280 with two homers and 20 RBI in 265 at-bats this season. With the loss, the Astros fall to last in the NL Central, but the Randy Wolf era begins on Sunday, and that's going to change everything

Blurb of the year, right here.

Chris Snyder-C-Diamondbacks, Jul. 24 - 1:11 am et

Chris Snyder hit a three-run homer as the Diamondbacks fell to the Cubs on Wednesday night.

He really cracked the ball, too. The homer was his eighth in just 199 at-bats, and Snyder has an OPS of .780 to go along with his .241 average. It's what we've come to expect of Snyder, whose power potential makes him a decent option behind the plate.

(For those not in the know, Snyder just returned from a DL stint due to a "fractured testicle"...or a cracked ball, to the layperson.)

;-D :-D

Oww....I gotta give the guy credit though, I'm surprised he's back already. If that happened to me I'd just call it a year and ice my crotch till next spring.

Jul 25 Ethier was not in the starting lineup on Friday, as the Dodgers went with a Pierre/Jones/Kemp outfield.

Recommendation: So an offense struggling to score runs benches its co-HR leader. Meanwhile, Andruw Jones will try and catch Danny Ardoin and Luis Maza in OPS.

Andruw just getting no respect lately ;-D :*)

Regardless of Nady's short-term struggles, the solid veteran hitter's presence has made several of his teammates excited about the move management made to aid a playoff run. "Wow," Alex Rodriguez reportedly told GM Brian Cashman after the deal, "I want to kiss you."

Andy Gonzalez, who was called up Saturday to replace Casey Blake on the roster, is getting the start at DH in Monday's game.
This might be the low point for the Indians since Rachel Phelps tried to put a dead guy on the team. Gonzalez is a .189/.280/.249 hitter in 190 major league at-bats.

Good Ole Mariners

Mark Lowe-R-Mariners Aug. 25 - 6:36 pm et

Mariners optioned RHP Mark Lowe to Triple-A Tacoma.
The Mariners are trying to get away with optioning a pitcher who was on crutches yesterday after taking a comebacker off his foot during Saturday's game. If he's still injured -- and all indications are that he is -- then he should be on the DL collecting a major league salary and service time. Besides, that way the Mariners could potentially gain extra flexibility for their postseason roster.

This thread reminded me of another good Mariner-related one from a few days back...

Mariners placed RHP Carlos Silva on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow tendinitis.
Silva reportedly felt some pain in his bullpen session two weeks ago, but didn't say anything until he was shelled on Friday night. "It's something that I think if we were in a different part of the season, or the standings, he would pitch through it," manager Jim Riggleman said. Apparently in that scenario they'd need his 5.93 ERA.
