Jones painted a more dire picture: "I'm going to give it two days, and if it doesn't get better... we'll go ahead and scope it," said Jones. Arthroscopic surgery would keep Jones out of the lineup until July, making "arthroscopic surgery" a potential MVP candidate for the Dodgers. "Hopefully, I can just get treatment on it, and then probably get (the surgery) done during the offseason," Jones said.

Rich Hill was placed on the DL at Triple-A Iowa due to back spasms.
"I don’t think it’s serious," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "Probably more of a mental break than anything, I’d assume. That’s just my assumption. [The break] may not be bad. It might be the best tonic of all. But I haven’t heard anything wrong of a serious nature, anything fundamentally wrong with his back." Except the knife buried in it, of course.

This one was classic.

I just spit out my beer reading this one:

Athletics placed RHP Joey Devine on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 26, with a right elbow inflammation.
Carrying the conservation of matter law over to the A's, it's taken injuries to 14 other players on the roster to balance the sudden health enjoyed by Rich Harden. Devine joins fellow pleasant surprises Santiago Casilla and Andrew Brown in being sidelined with arm problems. That means the team will have to rely far too much on veterans Alan Embree and Keith Foulke in the coming weeks.

These two today made me laugh

Mariners fired hitting coach Jeff Pentland.
The Mariners have the game's worst record despite a top-10 payroll, and it's obviously Pentland's fault. He'll know better next time not to overpay for Richie Sexson, Carlos Silva, Miguel Batista and Jarrod Washburn. Also, he never should have traded for Jose Vidro and put together a ridiculous bench that included Miguel Cairo and Willie Bloomquist. And that's glossing over his biggest mistake of all: he saw two lesbians kissing at Safeco Field and did absolutely nothing to stop them. Lee Elia, his replacement, is very capable of putting the fans in their place when he needs to.

Miguel Cairo bunted a bases-loaded safety squeeze to lead the Mariners over the Blue Jays on Monday night.
Behold the power of new hitting coach Lee Elia. Clearly he'll be able to harness the majestic Miguel Cairo (.218/.279/.255), and the Mariners will ride his offensive prowess straight to the World Series.

Another funny one :-b

Corky Miller hit a pinch-hit two-run homer as the Braves lost to the Cubs on Wednesday night.
It was Miller's third hit in 33 at-bats this season, so he was probably pumped up in the showers. This could be the only blurb we write about him this season, so we apologize for the mental image of the 250-pounder.

I like the one about Seattle's hitting coach :-)

This one is funny and mean (poor D-Train)!!!

Things are actually getting worse for Tata, who opened the year on the major league DL with a sore right shoulder (causing him to punch a door) and fractured right hand (the after-effect of said punch). The Tigers were looking at him as potentially valuable depth, but he has a 15.32 ERA and 19 walks in 12 1/3 innings since returning. On the plus side, he's no longer the wildest pitcher on Lakeland's roster.

Billy Butler homered, doubled and walked Thursday for Triple-A Omaha.

With Butler tearing it up since being optioned out and Ross Gload still doing nothing to justify his existance, the Royals need to be seriously thinking about giving the 22-year-old another chance. He's hitting .377/.441/.679 with three homers and just two strikeouts in 53 at-bats.

not sure if this is serious, or even qualifies, but I found it funny.

Jun 10 The New York Daily News' Teri Thompson, Christian Red, Michael O'Keeffe and Nathaniel Vinton report SP Roger Clemens took Viagra as a performance enhancer, according to a source familiar with the New York Yankees' clubhouse. Clemens violated no drug-testing rules by using the drug.

That must have been one odd orgy.
