When I was watching the game, the WGN announcers said something like "If Bay was still swinging the bat like the Pirates expect him to, then he would have not been removed."
Basically, WGN guys felt that it's because Bay is sucky. A .247 BA over his last 650+ AB's AND committing the 2nd most errors by a LF in 2007 pretty much tells the story. Right now he's a liability in the field and with the stick. Read what you will into the double switch -- but I would not be surprised to see more of Bay riding the pine unless he becomes an offensive force again.
