It looks like the Giants were close to having enough money to sign Maddux. I am guessing that they chose to keep this "nesting egg" in the dark so that fans would not get dissapointed.

Nonetheless, as the hidden egg will probably not be consumed by Easter, perhaps it will be dug up just in time for a mid-season aquisition.

The skies are blue in the Bay Area. This defense/depth squad is going to be fun to watch! I cannot wait.

i just heard on the KNBR (SF Giants radio) that the Giants owner just gave 4 million to Schools in San Jose!!!


thats 4 miilion bucks that could have been spent on Mondesi :-P

I am glad that Magowan or Baer made a point to donate money to education ;-D . The money was probably out of their own paycheck, not the Giants budget. However, the size of his donation gives you an idea of how much the Giants are making :-? .

It would have been nice if they went after some more free agents, as I think a lot of my fellow lunatic fringe-mates and I were more upset with the Giants' cutting budget than with Sabeans allocation of the budget. It is unfortunate that he was put on the spot to answer so many questions that hardly pertained to his authority.
