Sabathia?

Should I be worried? Second straight horrible start. I have him, Verlander, Oswalt all contributing to my 5.05 team era for the week. Bad start for me.

I don't like the big # of IP last year but I wouldn't worry

Having owned him before, I remember that Oakland's not his favorite team to face.

He's from nearby Vallejo, has lots of friends and family that go to his games in Oakland. Going into today he had a career ERA of over 7 in Oakland. Clearly he puts too much pressure on himself to perform well there. This along with his shakey control, is all I think happened today.

Got drafted way too early for my tastes.

He's a solid SP, but he's coming off a career season. After 7 full seasons he's only had one really nice season. There's guys later that have just as much chance to do what CC did last year.

He stays fairly healthy for a big guy, but as he gets older that could be an issue.

Personally, I'm not high on CC this year. Very high pitch count from last year and pitchers typically don't do as well the next year around IE CC, Kazmir, and Lackey thus far. Didn't realize this trend until post draft and have been working tirelessly to dish him away... but with 2 lackluster performances in a row that doesn't seem like it's going to happen. He'll be riding the pine until he puts up a few decent starts :-t

He seems to have a problem with big games and ending up issuing too many walks. It really hurts his performance since he usually displays above average control. Playoffs last year, opening day and now oakland factor. Hopefully he can settle into the season as early as his next start.

Is Sabathia even worth starting after two terrible performances until he shows signs that he has some form of control?

Also he is pitching for a new contract so he might be putting even more pressure on himself.

i wouldn't be worried at all. it is only his first two starts...he has many more to redeem himself. like it was said earlier, he doesn't pitch well in oakland over his career. i look for him to rebound and prove all the doubters wrong...of course i say that as a CC owner. :-D
