Probably wouldn't have admitted it back then. I would be caught admitting to much back then music-wise other than Ozzy rocks and AC/DC rules. Image

Also, The Curse of Rick Astley is dumb. Can't happen. The song makes it perfectly clear that there are certain things Rick Astley would never do: give you up, let you down, run and around and desert you, make you cry, say goodbye, tell a lie, hurt you. I'm pretty sure a curse falls under several of those categories. :-D

True, but you guys shunned Rick. There's no telling what that dude is capable of now.

Playing his hit single on Opening Day is not shunning Mr. Astley. Sir Astley. The Astley.

I'm thinking that was the main reason they decided to play it. Baseball people know that curses are very real. No point tempting fate here. Good job by the Mets to play the song and nip any potential curse in the bud. ;-D

Since the Mets fans did not embrace the song and thus personally shunned Rick, the curse is still alive. How dare they boo. And if it takes a minor, minor, minor injury to Johan to send a message (i.e. a one day stomach ailment on an off-day), so be it. RIck will do what he needs to.

Exactly.

Rick won this silly poll outright. But the Mets didn't take the mystique of Astley for real. They decided to run a trial version of the song instead of granting him his rightful place in Shea Stadium. The Mets then rejected that trial version.

The Curse of Astley Lives!!

They are gonna have to name the new stadium after him for retribution.

I hadn't thought of that. It is possible that something is amiss. I'm just glad this isn't happening to the Jays. :-°

The Jays are cursed enough...

They play in Canada.

I actually sang along with the song, thus negating any curse. I called Nate McLouth and he told me it was ok.

I just rickrolled our resident Cardinal fan in my dynasty league by posting an 'Oh my word, did you see what happened to Pujols?' link in a thread discussing Schafer getting busted for HGH.

I think he may actually try to kill me...
