Are you aware that the combination of Ankiel, Duncan, Ludwick, Schumaker and Barton have a .389 OBP and .600 SLG%? They are leading MLB OF in almost every offensive category.
I still say pitching. I always felt this OF could go on hot streaks. I'll put the OF at the top of that list if they are still performing at a high level at the end of May.
Actually, I take that back. The most surprising part of all of this is that the Cardinals were somehow 10-4 after 13 games.
yep, it's the pitching. I thought the collective ERA might possibly be north of 5 at this point, certainly in the 4.5-5 range...certainly not 3.11.
I thought Ankiel plus Duncan would give us adequate production from the outfield and that the Ludwick/Schu/Barton rotation wouldn't be half bad. They've been better than I thought but I was still somewhat optimistic about that situation to begin with.
When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room...is for fun.

If only the playoffs started on May 1.
I say the pitching is definitely a bigger surprise than the OF. Wellemeyer (3.24 ERA), Lohse (1.48), Blooper (2.70), Wainwright (2.78) make you forget that one of your 4 losses came when Joel Pineiro got shelled by the Giants of all teams.
For me, the most amazing thing is that the Cards have eight players on the DL.
