No doubt the splits are severe, but "below average?" Come on now. Maybe a below average OF1 for a 12 team mixed league, but not a below average OF.
OK, maybe not necessarily below average but his per-game averages on the road have been below average over his career imho.
I consider Holliday's OF numbers of .272/.332/.444/.777 as his career road split line over 1060 ABs as weak for many formats. His 2007 was substantially better than that so he would be expected to exceed those numbers. There are a lot of ways to slice the data, but a quick and dirty method would be to half his road numbers to see what he's done over 500+ ABs or about 130+ games.
530 AB, 75 R, 17 HR, 74 RBI, 10 SB, .272
Personally, I consider it a below average OF line since I can get that kind of line from many players in 12 teamers. I'm sure many people here might disagree but this is my view.
Your point is well taken though and I fully acknowledge that Holliday's recent trendline is up -- even on the road.
