Is he the 35 HR .270 guy? or the 17HR .250 guy. His stats are so erratic I dont know what to think. He even has a season or two where he hit like .290. All I know is he is batting 5th in the brewers line up and I am not sure what to think about him.
Only 2 years removed from a stellar offensive season with 35 HRs and an .898 OPS, I'd say he's worth a flier. Hitting behind Fielder and Braun should create opportunities.
I'll play it safe and say he's probably smack in the middle of his last 2 years. I think 06 was better then you should expect, but 07 was worse. I would predict about .260 with 25 HR. If that is good enough to keep him in the 5th spot he could have a shot at 90 RBI.
He was hurt most of 2007 so I wouldn't judge him too much by that year. I don't think he is quite the 2006 guy either though. 2 HR, 6 RBI today helps I guess.
Hall's had an interesting mix of numbers over the past 3 years:
2005 .291 AVG, 17 HR, 62 RBI, 69 R, 18 SB in 501 AB 2006 .270 AVG, 35 HR, 85 RBI, 101 R, 8 SB in 537 AB 2007 .254 AVG, 14 HR, 63 RBI, 59 R, 4 SB in 452 AB
At the risk of sounding wishy washy, I think he'll land somewhere right in the middle of those numbers. He won't hit .291 again, but it won't be .254 either. 14 HR is too low, 35 too high. And he certainly won't steal 18 again. He should drive in some runs hitting 5th though. I'll say something like:
.272 AVG, 22 HR, 84 RBI, 70 R, 5 SB
Not a bad line for a guy with mixed 3B/CF eligibility.

I agree. Some people have completely written him off, and he's better than that.
