Young Pitchers Ranking

Postby nbb23 » Thu Apr 03, 2008 4:45 pm

I am in a keeper league where we can keep two ML players and right now I have three pitchers on my roster but would only like to carry two pitchers so I can pick up a postition player......How would you rank these three pitchers for long term value:

David Price
Rick Porcello
Jake McGee

Keep Price and Porcello. McGee is a tier below.

Long term
1. Price-if he avoids injuries could be a solid #1
2. Porcello-A lot of potential....still at least two years away from contributing anything
3. McGee-a safer pick than Porcello given that he will be in AAA this year and has two plus pitches already. Worst case senario he is a #4 starter or a possibly dominant closer like Wagner

Can't go wrong with any of them. ;-D

It depends on who the position player is. I'd probably just keep all three.

First tell us who you want to pick up.

I have a feeling McGee might become a closer, the Rays rotation has a lot of young starters. He looks like he might fit that role the best. I would keep Price and Porcello.

i love Price alot but his elbow scares me some. i do think Porcello is a once in 10 years type starter prospect that comes along rarely, at this point even giving his limited pro ball experience and watching him do well at 19 in ST for the tigers and his 1st game of Hi-A.... (at 19!) i'd almost be inclined to roll the dice on him seeing what i get. his ceiling IS higher then Price but he's got along ways to go for that and injuries of course are always a factor.... i'm a gambling man though ;-D

So should I go ahead and hang onto McGee or should I look to acquire J. Heyward or M. LaPorta instead of him?
