I'm not a fan of Headley simply because of the park he plays in. I think guys like Rasmus, Bruce and Longoria will be very solid after another year or so. I tend to agree with those who said that no rookie/unknown will come close to matching Braun's line last year.
as a padre fan I love Chase, but I just dont see it this year. I fully expect decent seasons out of Hairston and Mcnaulty, combined with Huber and Edmonds, I just dont see him getting a legit shot. The Padres dont wanna rush him ala their last great cant miss prospect Sean Burroughs .
I could see him being 09 Ryan Braun, with Hairston in CF or RF full time

Huber has no business being in the OF over Headley if they Pads reasoning for not having him up now is truly to work on his D.
Edmonds will be on the DL 50% of the season. I dont see why the Padres would rather have McNaulty playin over Chase.

Have a little faith. You are still stuck on Sean Burroughs? They've turned out Adrian Gonzalez, Kouzmanoff and Greene since then.
If Headley turns out to be another Burroughs then I will eat my hat.

Gonzalez came from Texas and Kouzmanoff came from Cleveland. They did turn out Josh Barfield though.

True but AGon did nothing in Texas and FLA.

I got to see Headley in AA last year during that stretch when he was raking out of his mind. He sure looked like the real thing then. However, I agree that the odds of anyone putting up Braun numbers this year is pretty slim.
On a somewhat related side note, the guy everybody thought was going to put up rediculous numbers as a rookie last year but didn't (Alex Gordon) has looked very comfortable at the plate so far this season. I know it's early, but he owns the skill set to put up numbers like Braun had last year.
