the stl.-col game was postponed after 3 innings, with stl up 5to1. will the stats accumulated in the 3 inn. still count when they finish the game? or do they start the whole game over?

Stats won't count. They will replay the game at a later date.

The whole game will be replayed...everything that happened today is worthless and void...upsetting because I wanted Tulo's steal.
Why don't they just get a house that's already painted?

If the stats "don't count," that would mean it would be replayed in its entirety.

If a game doesn't go 5 innings, it doesn't count (ie it must be replayed from the start). If it went more than 5 innings and was postponed, whoever was ahead would win. If there was a tie, they would continue from where they left off at a later date.

The word replay implies that something will be played
over again.

Yeah, the whole "postponed" thing really had me confused yesterday. To me, postponed sounds like paused. For all intents and purposes, the game yesterday was actually canceled. But anyways, I found a nifty write up that explains the logic behind why they do it this way on the whole thing.
You can read it
