I agree that Mota looked good, but David Riske looked good as well. With The Brewers having some good late inning pitchers, I don't see Gagne having too long of a leash if the Brewers want to contend.

No way Gordon has a long leash, not in this town. That was atrocious. Giving up 5 runs to the Nats in the 9th inning, with the expectations on this team? Expectations and talk is really going to follow the Phillies this year, as the Eagles were mediocre last year (should be better this, but still) and the Sixers and Flyers will be one and done playoff teams. Last year was different, as it was a surge. But the city is going to be way antsy if winnable games are just getting tossed back because Gordon stinks. The team does have Romero and Madson in the interim. Not great shakes, and who knows what will happen, but you can't have "Flash" doing that while we wait for Lidge, who is also a ?? himself. I think it was a sharp move to get him, but sharp in the way you take high risk high reward players in the last round. Stuff like that has gotta stop if you want to be a real contender.

Rant over, just annoyed.

The Brewers have an entire bullpen full of closers. Turnbow, Riske, Mota and Torres are all legitimate closers behind Gagne. This could turn into a closer by committee.

Maybe Gagne will bounce back, but after what I saw him do in Boston last year I would doubt it. I think he still has the stuff to get people out, but I don't think he is all there mentally.
