Gordon, Gagne and Wood all had rough outings.

Gordon was just assaulted and I think it is very close to the end of the line for him.

Gagne threw what looked like a softball to Fukodome. I knew it was gone when the pitch left his hand. This guy obviously rode that HGH train. I have been picking up Turnbow in all of my leagues because I don't believe Gagne will last too long.

Wood just had a tough outing and I think he will be fine. Marmol looked damn good though.

I had Gordon in one of my leagues. My Starters had pitched great today and I had a solid 2.90 ERA and the Flash steps up to the rubber and proceeds to jerk that ERA up to a 6 ERA for the day. That should come down a little bit since Harden pitched a great game a week ago, but my god a 135 ERA. He would have done better if he had just pitched it underhand.

Now I know this is the first day and relievers have to work out some kinks still, but what do you guys think about Gagne and Wood holding onto their jobs. Gordon is just saving games until Lidge gets back. I think Wood will be fine, but I would be surprised if Gagne is still the closer at the end of April. The guy just doesn't seem to have any confidence anymore. Which could mean absolute hell for fantasy ERAs.

Don't worry about Wood, he was just plain unlucky.

Hitting Weeks was the key because then he had to walk Fielder. Braun's RBI single was a smashed bat bloop and then he overpowered Hall. The pitch to Hart was decent and Hart didn't hit it well at all and it would normally have gone foul but the wind blowing out to LF kept it fair.

He's got to learn very quickly that when you're closing you can't hit the lead off guy but besides that he pitched well with no luck. He'll close all year if he stays healthy and will put up stud closer numbers at that.

Gagne and Gordon on the other hand are done.

I'd be careful in assuming so quickly that the ball would be handed over to Turnbow automatically in the event of a switch. He, himself, has been mediocre at best since his breakout campaign in 2005.

2005 - 7-1, 39 SV, 1.74 ERA, 1.08 WHIP
2006 - 4-9, 24 SV, 6.87 ERA, 1.69 WHIP
2007 - 4-5, 1 SV, 4.63 ERA, 1.32 WHIP

Needless to say, there's no certainty that Turnbow would fare any better at closer than Gagne. David Riske and Salomon Torres are also options, as well. Riske was just signed to a contract with performance bonuses for games finished...

They shouldn't have long leashes...especially Gagne & Gordon...but Havok's probably right.

haha knew this was coming. It was 1 IP for each of them. That would be the shortest leash ever.

Gagme is on the shortest of leashes. Looks like his past greatness was a total byproduct of modern chemistry. He has a week to find the answer for my team, and probably triple that in Milwaukee.
Gordon lost his flash last year. He pitches like he is constipated. Done.
Wood didn't look good. He had poor control, which doesn't concern me as much as the lack of blazing heat. 91-92 MPH? I thought reports were that he was regularly hitting mid-90s in ST. Hmmm. He will get alot of time to find his groove.
