If possible I'd like to get some idea how these are generated...
Obviously hitters vs. pitchers are going to go primarily on any history they have against eachother, then on LHP/RHP splits (I would assume anyway). But how are the pitchers done? Is is a formula, like NHSportsfans from last year (including recent starts as well as long-term success vs. teams/batters), or is it strictly a gut call by somebody on the Yahoo! staff?
At this point I'm leery trusting these things, just because I figure I'm at a point in my baseball knowledge that I can put together a
reasonable rating on my own (plus, no offense, but three-quarters of the content on Yahoo! is put together for people well below Cafe-level, which I'm sure you know). I'd be a lot more trusting if I knew where these ratings came from.
I understand if this is proprietary knowledge Genie... just curious.
