Mike Pelfrey Gets the 5th SP Spot

Postby Metsin06 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 7:33 pm

Is he an immediate pickup? The talent is certainly there and he figures to get enough run support for 15 + W thru a full season.

But he could potentially post a disastrous WHIP and was rocked at the end of last year.

I think 13 W, 125 K, 4.00 ERA and 1.44 WHIP sounds ok?

What do you think?

There's no guarantee that he'll stay in the 5th spot. He's got it now because Orlando is going to extended spring training. Once he's ready, El Duque gets the nod.

He's looked bad in ST: there's a reason he's the 6th starter.

I'm leaving him alone.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

He's not worth an add in 12 team mixed leagues. You can watch his progress, but don't expect too much. He hasn't been able to master his secondary pitches, and you can't rely on a fastball and a fastball only in the ML's, or you're going to get hit and hit hard.

Agreed, I couldn't have said it any better. I'm a Met fan and I'm leaving him alone. From what I've seen from Pelfrey over the last 2 seasons he hasn't progressed at all. I haven't given up on him just yet, but he's got to show me something soon.
