what do you think of the trade?

I'm considering trading Magglio Ordonez and Matt Herges for Tim Hudson and Kevin Brown. I have alot of hitting (Manny Ramirez, Bagwell, Abreu, Damon) and could use starting pitching. Herges will hurt, but I figure I can trade Brown later for a reliever. Have Jeff Shaw and Tom Gordon on my reserve list. What do you think?

Sounds very good. If you won't miss Ordonez, this looks like a great way to upgrade your rotation. If Brown holds up, he can certainly be traded for a much better reliever than Herges. (Brown's injury history would be the only part of this deal that might make me hesitate.)

Hudson hasn't been stellar so far (see last night's debacle), but I'm not worried. I'm also not worried about Ordonez' sore back, but you may want to make sure whoever you're trading with knows about it.

Well, contrart to what cwebb said, your outfield may not look as great for the next month, now that Ramirez is out. If you can still front a decent outfield, (I doubt it, but is Kearns still on the waiver wire?) this would be a no brainer. Two top 15 drafted starting pitchers? Even if Brown goes down, I have no worries about Hudson. You have to give to get, and you shouldn't miss Herges at all.

Ordonez is great, but you're getting quality back.
