Remember that he posted some pretty spectacular numbers on his call-up last year. He's the real deal. Whether he gets the playing time remains to be seen, but there's 290-25-25 potential here. For keeper leagues, the guy is 23 and will grow into additional power.
I agree with you, I think Kemp has the job all to himself, and I also think Ethier as well. I mean the Dodgers will be stupid not to play with both of them. They do need to trade Pierre tho. If they end out starting Pierre over Ethier is because they want to trade him.
i agree as well, but im expecting at least 500 abs.
CBSsportsline reports that Juan Pierre has a very real chance of being benched in favor of Andre Ethier to start the season. What this tells me is that the left field spot is a battle between pierre and ethier and Kemp is to start everyday in right field. Great news for Kemp owners who will watch him take their teams to the title after using a late mid round pick on him.
Reyes and guerrero, the two most blessed players in the league, not to mention the most fun to watch
If the Dodgers don't trade Pierre, I think it will be a platoon in LF while Kemp will lose some time in RF to Ethier/Pierre if he ever slumps for any period of time. I still see him getting about 450 AB this year, too few for where some people have been taking him.
There is a difference between "should" and "is definitely going to". Kemp and Ethier "should" get all the playing time, but Pierre "is definitely going to" get 300ish ABs. I know all the educated people around here would banish Pierre to pinch-running, but Ned Colletti is not of the same mindset. And he is paying Pierre $8mil, and doesn't want to look like an idiot. I think everyone knows that Kemp, Jones and Ethier are the best three in the OF. However, there are other factors involved than just talent and production.
Pierre has been brutally bad but he is not this bad and would start for a lot of teams. As we saw with Hart in MIL, when there are viable options, then one bad slump could force Kemp to ride the pine and split playing time. It remains to be seen what actually happens.
In theory, yes, you would have Kemp playing everyday.
