Kelvim Escobar maybe done for the season

Postby suckerpuncher » Wed Mar 26, 2008 3:18 pm

Very bad news from Rotoworld / LA Times:

Kelvim Escobar revealed Wednesday that he has a tear in his right shoulder that could require season-ending surgery.
Escobar ceased throwing after experiencing discomfort in his shoulder Sunday. "I'm concerned, I don't know what's going to happen, I don't even know if I'll be able to pitch again," Escobar said. "I'm still young. I'll be 32 in two weeks, but retirement is getting into my head, because it's hard to rehab. I want to be out there playing, and I've done everything I can do to be healthy." According to the Los Angeles Times, Escobar plans to see if two weeks off improve his shoulder before likely seeing a specialist to determine whether surgery is necessary.

I don't own him, but that really sucks. Hopefully this isn't the end for him.

I don't own him, but I did one year awhile back. I hope he can make it back someday.

He's so talented too, it'd be a shame to see him retire possibly.

Ugh, I have him on one of my cafe teams and I was really banking on him to come back in May and be a reliable guy because my staff is pretty thin there. I got him in the 14th so I didn't really overpay to get him but that news hurts.

He was money for me last year. It's too bad to see guys with tons of ability to not to able to play because of injury.

This really hurts! I extremely overpaid for him in a 15x15 league that has GIDPs as a catagory. The end of the 1st round in a 5 keeper league which is really the 6th round. I was targeting Carmona, but he got snatched 2 picks earlier and I guess because I was picking at the turn I got rattled. I cussed myself after the pick before I knew he was injured. This was over a month ago, but it still blows my mind that I had no idea he was hurt. I thought I had a very good knowledge of the injuries carrying into the season, but some how he slipped through the cracks.

Hate to see that. :-/ He's actually a really nice guy. Tossed me a ball during BP and even signed it for me after BP was over. ;-D

Hopefully it isn't something that shelves him for the year.
