Best MLB Player For The Next 5 Years (12th Pick)

Postby J35J » Tue Mar 25, 2008 8:53 pm

The ESPN Rankings got a real stir and I thought it would be nice to compile our own. ***KEEP IN MIND THIS IS REAL LIFE RANKINGS, NOT FANTASY*** Just think of it as you are starting up a new franchise and can start with any 1 player...who do you go with...do you go with pitching(like me) or hitting.....or do you want the stud defender with "just" a solid bat? Anyway, I thought it might be fun to mix things up and we can then compare our list to ESPN's.

Once we get to 15 posts per pick I will then talley the votes and we will have a winner(for that pick)....if we come to a tie, I will be the tie breaker.....why you ask? .... because it is my game!! ;-7 I'll just Moderate this and will keep my vote to myself until a tie needs to be broken.

*** To make this more interesting and more than "just a draft" I will ask if you could write a couple sentences about your pick....why Santana over Pujols.....why Buchholtz over Chamberlain....lets get some discussion out of this as well! ***

We'll find out fairly quickly if this doesn't look like a good idea and I'll drop it but as of now it sounds like fun! ;-D

Make your pick....

David Wright

He has a decent enough glove to where he should stick at 3B. He does it all at the plate, hits for average, power and also can run. He is the complete player, and is young to boot.

I also say DWright because he's young, hits for average/power, steals some bags, hits in the middle of the line-up on a perennial play-off team, and plays a premium position. For me, it's between him, HanRam, and ARod.

Miggy Cabrera, the closest thing to a Pujols talent out there. Wright is better with the glove, but i don't think Wright can reach Cabreras ceiling in hitting.

I was going to say Cabrera as well.

I think Wright and Pujols are good choices as well, though.

Top 5 in no particular order

1. DWright
2. HanRam
3. Pujols
4. MCab
5. ARod

I don't think we're going to come up with a consensus order as these players are all interchangeable me thinks...

Looks like my choice of Santana or Peavy isn't very popular......I'm going pitching pretty much every time when starting up a real club. Thats just the way I roll though... :-)
