Liriano to start the season in AAA?

Postby hett2333 » Mon Mar 24, 2008 8:22 pm

This was posted in rotoworld this morning.

Despite throwing four no-hit innings Sunday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Francisco Liriano will likely begin the season in the minors.

The paper believes Nick Blackburn will start off in the rotation while Liriano pitches two or three times in Triple-A. While he was impressive Sunday, Liriano isn't nearly in 2006 form after missing all of last season following Tommy John surgery. Still, he has made progress each time he's taken the mound.

That's the way the local sports guys are talking, too. As a Twins fan and Liriano owner in my money league, I actually don't think it's such a bad thing. Let him build up some more strength and confidence, then call him back up in a month and hope he's good to go. The last start was pretty encouraging, showing that he can still be dominant.
