I am in a 10-team NL only league with 26-man rosters. Talent is pretty scarce at this point and Sean Hill's owner just cut him due to his injury. It is a 5x5 roto league, w/ daily line-up changes where the pitching categories are Ks, SVs, W, ERA and WHIP. Wins are weighted half as much as the other categories.
Here are my pitchers:
SP
Chris Young
Yovani Gallardo
Chad Billingsley
Barry Zito
Micah Owings
Greg Maddux
Jason Bergmann
Aaron Cook
RP
Rafael Soriano
Carlos Marmol
Brandon Lyon
Tony Pena
We get 3 DL spots but I have to cut Cook (or someone else) in order to get Hill. I think Hill is an upgrade on Cook, but I am a little worried about having too many injured arms to start the season. Most of my staff is dinged up and/or coming off a bad spring and I'm wondering if its better to stay with Cook. So, should I cut Cook (or someone else like Bergmann) to grab Sean Hill?

I would take a chance on Shawn Hill over Bergmann. Hopefully, you can then move Hill to IR and reclaim him.

That's what I was thinking originally, but my co-owner is a big Nats fan so Cook became the guy who had to go....
And I like Cook- he doesn't get alot of Ks, plays for Colorado, and has had some recent injuries. Those are not good things, but there is alot of good to outweigh much of that. I think his peripherals will probably be alot better than people expect (something like a 4.00 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) and he could be good for 15 wins if he's healthy- so I might just hold onto Cook for now. Plus We have a $265 salary cap and we have Cook for the league mnimum salary of $1, which is a decent value

i would take cook- i actually took hill over cook last year and lived to regret it- cook wasn't great but i was in a 5x5 NL-only league and cook put up good peripherals (3.96 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) and had a great win total (16-9 record on a bad team)- all year long last year i was hurting for wins and cook would have made a big difference in the roto totals- i cut hill at some point- he was injured and finished with 1 win and an ERA near 6.00
it's tough to project what they will do this year just on what they did last year, and i know hill has good stuff -but he always finds a way to get hurt- he has burned me a couple years in a row now and i am staying away from the shawn hill stove this year

Sean Hill is an ex-NHL player.....Shawn Hill is a P for the Nats.
Cook or Hill? I'd try not to roster either if you are trying to win.
