Confirmed. Glad I didn't lose my waiver priority picking him up.
Headley was optioned to Triple-A Portland, the team's official web site reports.
Spin: This is a surprise since he was seen having a shot to be the starting left fielder. He should be called up early in the season, however.

I've gott'em in a keeper. Sending him down to work on his defensive skills in the OF probably. He'll be back, the Padres need his bat in the lineup.

Doesn't even have any time above AA so it's a good move. He's still young and has plenty of time to contribute. He'll be back this year.
