1st Time Yahoo commissioner - Need help with scoring

I'm setting up a Yahoo league and haven't done this before. Most of the teams in my league haven't done it either. I need your thoughts on how many points to give to the following categories I chose.

(For batters) R, H, Singles, Doubles, Triples, HR, RBI, SB, W

(For pitchers) IP, W, CG, Shutouts, S, K

Let me know if you think I need fewer offensive categories or more pitching categories. I'd like it to be pretty balanced.

if you can you should try to make the hitters categories and pitchers the same. This does not make one worth more than another. If you have 8 hitters and 5 pitchers, who would draft a pitcher? Also, I am not a big fan of doing singles, doubles, and triples along with hits and avg because too many categories overlap. I try to keep it so you have 5 or 6 individual categories for each. I personally like 6x6 with walks or OBP added to regular hitters and maybe CG added to regular pitchers. I wish opponents batting avg was there. Just my 2 cents

Having Hits, singles, doubles, triples, and HR leads to duplication and getting credit twice for one hit. I would lose singles for sure and probably doubles and triples as well.

OK, I eliminated the Singles, Doubles and Triples. Now I have this:

(For batters) R, H, HR, RBI, SB, W

(For pitchers) IP, W, CG, Shutouts, S, K

How's that?

I also wanted to hear suggestions on how many points I should give each category too.

that looks good, what type of league are you playing in? h2h or rotto you dont need to assign points

It's not too late to change the type of league if H@H would make it more fun and interesting.
