1st '08 draft, hows it look?

My strategy was to get speed early and focus on power mid/late and slip pitching in every 3-5 picks.

I can add 2 more reserves and will add some power and move Gomez to the bench.

I do not like the team. Good average, runs and SB's but I need more power.

I'd say that I am in agreement with you. You're best bet right now is to possibly try and swing a deal moving one of your speed guys for a power bat. Maybe trade either Sizemore or Hart for a solid power hitter (like a Berkman/Carlos Lee type player). Pitching isn't bad at all, although having both Sherril and Capps on the same team might not be a good thing. Both are solid closers on bad teams, so maybe you try and flip one for a closer on a better team, so that you won't have to worry about nailing saves down at the end of the year.

I agree that you need to move a speed guy for a power bat and maybe get more of a dependable closer. Other than that, I like your team.

I'd wait a bit before you pull the trigger to trade some speed for power... let these guys get you ahead in the SB category... then trade when someone is desperate for SB and willing to give up more. You have enough Power right now to not fall too far behind... but enough SB to pull way ahead. Pitching is good...

I don't think it's a bad team, but you definitely could use some power. As far as closers, a stud would be nice, but I've always liked the idea of drafting talented closers on bad teams late in the draft (assuming you got them late). Guys can still rack up 30 saves on bad teams with some good luck.
