Last hands I lost
Pocket-99, I call, big blind check
flop 5-2-3
I raise half the pot, trying to chase this low stack, he raise all in, showing 4-5. Turn is a Ten, River was the Ace.
I probably would have raised preflop - but I could see why you might slow play. You made the right move after the flop - but in this case slow playing it allowed him to have an openended draw and he got lucky. Nothing you can really do when he catches a card on the river.
Whenever I have 9's or 10's I usually raise the big blind, trying to weed out the guys that have a face card in their pocket along with an unfavorable low card. One of the things I hated most was slow playing pocket 9's or 10's and than the flop showing a couple face cards.
man, the drought is over. Finished 2nd the last 2 games. -11 today, +45 for the week, +20 overall. Last game was an intense game of "I don't want to be the one finishing 3rd and outside the money". Me and this other guy were $10 in chips apart. I outlasted him with a A-5 straight

Slow play allows for cheap and easy tossing of those junkers if they miss, or a nice monster pot win if they hit. Pocket 10's are really no different than pocket dueces. If you see a flop, you're most likely beaten unless you hit a set. So no point making it expensive on yourself unless you're feeling frisky or the table is just set up for that kind of play (provided you bluff after the flop even if you miss and overs are out there).
There's no "book" on how to play, but I make the majority of my money on the tables through hitting sets for cheap, and winding up with huge pot wins because it blindsides people.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

it doesnt seem like you're playing for much money. if thats the case, then you're never going to get rid of those fishy calls.
