Pearce or Bruce

Postby The_Idiot » Sat Mar 22, 2008 8:34 pm

I play in a 12 team re-draft roto league.

I was lucky enough to get Ryan Braun last year and reeped the rewards. If there was one guy that it would be worth to stash on my bench until his big league arrival this year who would it be?

Steve Pearce or Jay Bruce ? Or is there someone else I am missing.

I predict there will be no rookie to make a Braun like impact in 2008. I would say Evan Longoria has the best shot though, as he'll probably spend the first month in the minors before making an impact. He's more likely to have a rookie year closer to Alex Gordon's though, IMO.

However, I predict Chase Headley OF Padres becomes the 2008 near version of Hunter Pence.

;-D Yep. Longoria is the best bet but I wouldn't take that bet. Bruce will probably be up and down a couple times this year depending on the health of the Cincy OF. Pearce has some potential but I would but him at about Adrian Gonzalez potential if he gets a call up this year. I also like Headly this year but amazingly enough he just got sent to the minors but he should get called up fairly soon.

i agree no repeat of braun. thats a once in a decade type season. i like bruce more than pearce though, but i doubt either makes their splashes until very late in the season, thus not worth stashing on your roster now.

I'm willing to bet that Pearce does more in 08 than Bruce in MLB. Big time sleeper.

Go with the better talent (Bruce) who is only blocked by Corey Patterson... Nady could hit well enough for Pearce to not get much PT all year. And PECOTA is low on Pearce, he was a little old for his level, and hadn't shown quite that much power before.

The big knock on Pearce but I still like his chance of playing in RF this year and theres no way Dusty puts a rookie in that OF.
