Tim Lincecum

Postby skjelstrom » Fri Mar 21, 2008 3:48 pm

I have Tim Lincecum on my fantasy team and I don't really know what to think of him. He didn't do that great last year, he doesn't have a reputation. So what is to like about him. If I had the chance to get Chris Young or Brett Myers for him should I try to.

I would ride him out. He's got huge upside but you can expect growing pains given his inexperience. I'm seeing something like 14 wins, 180K, 3.9 ERA, and 1.3 WHIP. That's very good production and there's always the chance he totally breaks out this year (although I think it more likely in 2009 or 2010).
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.

150 K's in 146.1 IP is pretty darn good. And his ratios (4.00/1.28) were pretty good. He's a solid pitcher, devastating stuff, tends to get the "fragile" label due to his build and heat (See Oswalt and Kazmir), his wins might suffer due to a subpar Giants team - But he is a solid pitcher.

As far as your trade Q, you're in the wrong forum.

Brett Myers :-t (honestly what has myers ever done)?
Chris Young ;-D
Chris youngs opponents batting average:
2005- .255
2006- .206
2007- .192

Johan Santana had an Baa of .225
Peavy .208

chris young is a foot taller than Lincecum and he is also more proven, with out a doubt I would take Chris young.

agreed, i like chris young the most out of the three, then timmy, then myers. part of the reason myers moved out of SP role last year was that he stunk it up there (and of course they needed a closer).

So, I should try to go for Chris Young then and if I dont get him stick with Lincecum? Right.

if i can get chris young, i'd do it. timmy might be more valuable in a keeper league.

He doesn't have a reputation? I remember people (including myself) waiting 2 months for him to be on the Yahoo database, then another month to get called up. The kid is filty good, and just because his first year in the bigs doesn't show excellent numbers, go take a look at his AAA numbers. There is some huge upside to him.

I would take Chris Young over him, but don't feel like you're "stuck" with someone shitty if you cant get Young.
