Here's my first draft ever

Postby lexcats3711 » Sat Mar 01, 2003 8:59 pm

heres my draft. i dont remember the exact order i drafted but i think my biggest steal was getting edgardo alfonzo in round 19

Catcher-Jorge Posade
1st-John Olerud
2nd-Mark Bellhorn
3rd-Albert Pujols
SS-Aaron Boone
OF-Lance Berkman
OF-Pat Burrel
OF-Vernon Wells
Util-Edgardo Alfonzo
Bench-Fred McGriff
Bench-Orlando Cabrera

SP-Tim Hudson
SP-Roy Halladay
RP-Mike Williams
RP-Byung-Hyun Kim
P-Damian Moss
P-Ben Sheets
P-Jose Cantreres
Bench-Mike Hampton
Bench-Casey Fossum
Bench-Johan Santana

so, what do you think?
i have 2 30 hr hitter and a 40, and versatile infield, and a few good pitchers. one thing i just noticed is, do you think i should move Albert Pujols to the outfield, take vernon wells out and put Edgardo Alfonzo in at 3rd? lmk
thanks

no because you will have to put fred or cabrara in at UTL. and they are as good and alfonzo.

i like your pitching. you have a good SP rotation and a very decent RP bullpen. i like it. i like your OF but it has a little too much power. you are pretty weak in the SB catagorie.

Your pitching after Hudson and Halladay is somewhat suspect. Kim may be starting in which case you will need another reliever. Contreras is a question mark as is Hampton's return to pre-Coors levels.

not bad for a first draft

But you need to get some more speed and fortify your starting pitching a bit, Keep this in mind, Hampton's ERA was over 5.00 even playing away from Coors last year. I'm not a big damian Moss fan either. Those are the first I'd look to get rid of. Keep any eye on the waiver wire. There are always surprises that pop up n the first month.
