Anyone got the skinny on SS in Anaheim? Everything I've found is maddeningly non-commital.

I don't know either but my understanding was that Wood has been moved to 3rd base this year. He's not even a possibility at short this season...is he?

Isn't that ridiculous - I heard they moved him back. Poor kid, probably he doesn't know either. I say stick him at short and let him swing away - they'll most likely have wiggle room in the standings for his shortcomings (and there might not be any, at least no less than Aybar).

it will most likely start out as aybar, if aybar struggles izturis will see the majority of the playing time.
wood is backing up chone figgins at third base. figgings will most likery be traded and should free up a spot for wood at 3rd come the allstar break.

Neither Aybar nor Izturis has made an error so far this Spring. Both are playing well. A very tough decision but nice problem to have if you're Mike Scioscia. Wood seems like he's slotted to be a utility player for the time being but this kid needs AB's because he has very nice offensive potential.

What is the status as of now? (March 24th).

I'm seeing conflicting reports all over the place. Once somebody gets the skinny on whether or not it's gonna be Aybar or Izturis, post it pronto. I've got a waiver priority and need a backup SS for the start of the season.

If it's Izturis, I'm looking elsewhere, but I think Aybar could flourish with the right amount of PT and some freedom to hack away.

CBS wrote:Aybar has nice steals potential in deeper AL-only Rotisserie leagues, and he showed Thursday that he has a little pop too. Since he'll probably split time with Maicer Izturis, though, consider him nothing more than an AL-only option on Draft Day.

Not much help. :-/

I am trying to pick-up a backup MI for my AL-only, and I am trying to choose between Aybar and Alberto Callaspo.
If Aybar is playing, it's a no brainer, but Callaspo looks to be playing a few times a week at several positions.

I wish the Angels would announce something.
Be excellent to each other.

This is what i got from yahoo.

Aybar and Maicer Izturis have been in a battle to replace the departed Orlando Cabrera, but both players have played well enough that they will likely share playing time early in the season. The Angels said earlier this spring that the more consistent defensive player of the two would be the regular shortstop, but neither Aybar nor Izturis has made an error yet this year. Aybar will likely bat ninth when he's in the lineup and with he and Izturis splitting at-bats, Aybar's fantasy value is minimal.
