Although my "team" will always be the A's, in 2006 I had Dye and Thome so I found myself really enjoying watching the White Sox. Last year it was Sabathia and Atkins that made me really get behind the Indians and Rockies.
I love fantasy baseball but it's funny how it can skew your perception of what's going on on the field. My wife and I were watching the A's face off against the Indians and Dan Johnson goes and crushes a pitch off CC to the give A's a lead late in the game. I got up in disgust and said "Damn it", my wife was shocked and said "I thought you were an A's fan", I said "Yeah, but I got CC on my fantasy team and I really need the Win"
For me it would have to be the Phillies and Rays last year, and the Brewers because of Braun.
I had Upton, Shields, Kazmir, Pena, J-Roll, Howard in many leagues. Also, i picked up Braun right when he got called up, and that coupled with Howard's return from injury catapulted me from 11th to 2nd in one league, eventually winning the championship.
I found myself consistently watching out for a Devil Ray/Brewer/Philly win, cause i knew i had tons of guys from those teams. It was really fun watching Tampa and Milwaukee especially with what Braun was doing.
I remember in Lincecum's first start, which i was watching on T.V. and i believe came against Philly, Howard crushed a home-run to deep center, and i was like "WOOO!!!" and then sat back down cause i felt guilty that i had put fantasy over reality...haha. But when you're a Giants fan, what's there to look forward to these days except for Barry Zito implosions and a lot of 9 - 2 nights?
12-Team Yahoo! H2H Keeper League - 3-Sport Dynasty - Year 4 - Jonny D's Team Keepers: Albert Pujols/Jose Reyes/Ryan Braun/Grady Sizemore/Evan Longoria/Tim Lincecum = SWEET!
Because of fantasy, this year I'll also be a fan of the Twins (Morneau and Young), White Sox (Konerko and Swisher), Mets (Wright and Santana) and Yankees (Jeter and Rivera).
With Holliday, Helton, and Tulowitzki on one team...I can see myself trying to catch some Rockies games.
Everytime I see them with a boxscore where the Rockies scored 10+ runs I'll probably get butterflies in my stomach...and when I click on the link it'll be like opening up a Christmas present or something.
I got Holliday & Atkins, so I'm gonna have to root for the Rockies, and also have Martin, Loney, and Furcal...so the Dodgers will be on my watch list too
