Harden as a Yankee?

Postby jfg » Thu Mar 20, 2008 12:51 pm

Saw this on my Yahoo page from KFFL:

Mar 19 Susan Slusser, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports the New York Yankees have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Oakland Athletics SP Rich Harden. The Oakland Athletics would likely request one or more of the following players from the Yankees: SP Ian Kennedy, P Jeffrey Marquez and P Alan Horne.

Would the Yankees really trade one of those guys for Harden after Pavano and after guarding them so much in the Santana talks? I'm not really buying this.

We talked about this a little in the ST News thread, but yeah, I'm kind of grossed out.

I'm sure the Yanks would be interested but I agree not at the expense of guys they wouldn't part with for Johan.

That quote sounds completely speculative by the author, with the only fact being that maybe the Yankees asked what they would want for Harden. I feel pretty confident in saying that Kennedy won't be part of any deal for Harden.

Do the Yankees want another 'American Idle' aka Carl Pavano on their payroll? Sounds like a move Beane would be willing to make. I'm not buying the Yanks would be willing to give up Kennedy or more for Harden

Rich Harden in Yankee pinstripes would perfect.

Yeah I don't see it happening--especially after the Pavano/Wright signings. Kennedy's style is a nice complement to the other guys in the rotation...plus he's done real well in the minors and his short stint in the bigs.

I've always liked Harden and if the price is right I could see them dealing one of the guys in AA/AAA but I think Beane would ask a little more than the Yanks would want to deal with...who knows though.

harden and pavano together is a serious threat to the legacy of wood and prior as the greatest of DL tandem teammates in history. move over and make room pavano, you got a new roommate at the hospital.

To think Ian Kennedy would be a part of such deal is simply absurd. I, as a Yankee fan, would actually be fine with Horne for Harden simply because Horne has his injury issues as well and is actually getting older as compared to the other players mentioned. I don't see Horne's future being too bright. As for the others: NO. WAY.

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
