Fantasy Baseball Noob here, how's my first team look?

If you're looking to get some steals, you might want to consider Todd Helton as trade bait. I'm not a huge Helton fan, due to the fact that his power has dropped off in recent years, and he hasn't been the hitter that he once was, and he won't steal you bases. He might fetch you some decent interest though, since he still has good name recognition factor.

Do I need a backup catcher for Posada? I could probably get Varitek for Aaron Hill.

I would worry about getting another starting pitchers still. you have 4sp and 6rp. You should average about 5 starts a week out of them these pitchers average 6 2/3 innings a start. that is 33 innings. your RP should get you about 12 innings a week. That is 45 innings. the issue if you have a week where you have 2 pitchers with the same bad week, you dont make it to 40ip. that is a lost week no matter what. 5 Sp would be a minimum to me with these settings. I would worry about that way before I worry about a back up catcher. also why do you need 4 2b. i like them all, but 2b's get their value from playing 2b not util. I would try a 2 for 1 for a decent strater using one of your 2b and another player (not utley). Min 40ip if a big gate and needs to be planed for. also having so many util spots dimishes the value of a back up catcher to me. That spot can be rotated into util just as easy, and can ba an of or 1b that will give better numbers.

this might be going out on a limb but we say you trade Chase Utley for Jose Reyes. Cano is a solid guy and could go 300/20/80 and not bad, and while Utley is obviously better, your needs now dictate you need speed. Just a thought in my opinion.

Reyes is better than Utley, and went about 6 picks ahead of him in the draft. I'd love to trade Utley for Reyes, but it's not gonna happen. Also, I already traded Cano away for Hamels.
